I'd like to suggest that ads on DDG be moved to the right margin. I find it very irritating to have the first "result" always be an ad. I would rather have ten ads on the right side than one on top of the search results. I am personally pretty much ad-proof, but I'd still rather not Adblock DDG like I do Google.
Just got my first local result on DuckDuckGo: Andy's Frozen Custard in Springfield, MO.
Only problem is, I searched for "lighting universe" - which is an online store and doesn't, as far as I know, market frozen custard. Apparently The Duck thought I actually wanted dessert.
Just got my first DuckDuckGo visitor on one of my sites. Yay!
However, I'm puzzled. This can't be right. I must be missing something.
You see, I got a search term referrer on the visit. What's up with this? The privacy policy seems to clearly indicate that search terms aren't transmitted by DDG whether you're using SSL or not (which the visitor was not). But there it is in black and white!
One thing for which I find myself resorting to the !g tag is local business searches. I've just gotten used to using Google instead of the yellow pages. Are there any plans to get some kind of local results going in the future?
While the one-long-results-page DDG thing is nice, there is also something to be said for the traditional ten-links-a-time approach. Having the results split up onto separate pages does require more clicks to navigate, but it also makes the information easier to digest. It also makes it easier to find a particular result again.
I realize that DDG has the option to add numbered page breaks, but I think there should also be an option to complete paginate the results, with Next buttons and everything.
