It's hard to choose as they are both good.

The second one is more of a traditional DDG logo, but I kind of like the first one.

I think bringing the sombrero out from the bounds of the circle makes Ducky a little more prominent.

My vote is for logo #1 (the one with the full sombrero).

This one also gives the logo depth, almost 3-D.

i think the hat is fine extending past the boundary - there have been a few that have already done this and they look just fine. number 1 has my vote.
