DDG first website integration

I'm working on the integration of DDG on one of my clients website to do internal and external search. As i said in another topic, the search results will appear inside of a IFRAME, with a padronized CSS to looks like the website layout colours.

The problem is: I'll need some help to do it in a easy way. But if the test goes as i expect, we will have a lot of websites implementing it!!!!

Working on it! I think it is possible to change the CSS and some HTML with JS, When I'm done, I'll post the link here.

The coolest thing about it, is that DDG can have a ready to go embed and customizable search!!!

Yup, that's actually how I do most of the settings now. Look at the DDG Themes topic for some example (using the YUI library).

Hey Yegg,

I was thinking about it. It should be easier if you provide a "results page" with no top bar or css(the css you live the code with instructions so who is implementing can change), and of course: A DDG Powered by logo.

Here is an example of how the results are shown with what I have: http://www.methark.com/DDG.htm

As you can see, this example shows that the user would like to have DDG results in a black background and with links and texts matching the website layout....with is not the case...

You can already do that via the URL parameters, e.g. http://duckduckgo.com/?q=test&ko=-1 -- other URL params are at http://duckduckgo.com/params.html

A small suggestion:

Your submit script sends "&ko=-1&kj=r" along as the search term, and not as a URL option where it should be. This ends up making DDG search "SEARCH_TERM &ko=-1&kj=r site:methark.com"

See http://www.atomitware.tk/mith/search.html for a fixed example.

What about the background colors Yegg?? Is it going to be implemented?
I've got a pretty cool Black search. But the result page in white is kind of breaking the layout...

Guys...I have a problem,

I know it is completely idiotic but: I am creating a sort of integrated DDG search and it is supose to open a new window with the search results. The page is in asp.net and I really don't know were is wrong. Here goes the actual code:

You don't have a submit button!
Add this:

<input type="submit" value="search" />

And what is the input type="image" for?

input type="image" is his submit button -- you can use that if you wish to use a graphic instead of a "button" for form submission.

'form' should be on the same line as the opening bracket, though

I pasted your code into WYSIWYG 7 web builder and in preview mode in both IE and FireFox it opens in a new window just fine. The only thing I changed was were your code above has:

I changed it to :

<form action="http://duckduckgo.com/" target="_bl

It seems to work fine for me.

I don't know if this helps or not.

Thanks for the aswers guys!

1. Guest: The image type does the same thing as the submit (it submits the form...so...). The bracket is wrong here but the HTML do not count the diference.

2. Oldhack: I did what you said but: RED LIGHT! hehehe

I think that the problem is about the aspx page configuration or something. For me, the only thing this form is doing is refresh the page (crazy!). I am using Visual Studio 2010 with asp.net and C#.

More ideas????

I don't think there is a problem with the html. I even pasted your code into Microsoft Publisher and it worked in the preview.

I doubt it will help but here is the very simple code from my site builder.

Yeap...It works on dreamweaver...It's a "Mocrosoft" problem I guess since we have tested the HTML stuff. But thanks anyway Oldhack!!! I'll try to do some server side code (extra job! iaiks!).

Did you ever get this working as an embed, or only as a DDG page?

I'm replacing crappy WordPress search across several sites and would prefer to have a default option that is not Google CSE.
