Hi All,
I'm an old "end-user," who doesn't know a lot about much, but I do know a fair amount about end-user-ness, and as a fan of Duck Duck Go, I'm concerned:
DDG is the default search engine on my PC.
Got my first Android phone two months ago, and in very end-userly fashion, went to the "Market App" provided by HTC, easily found the "real" DDG Android App, downloaded it and installed it.

Groovy

Just bought an Acer Iconia (A500) Tablet for my wife. Couldn't help noticing that "Google" is really locked in as the "default" search engine, but I figured at least I could go to Market, and download the DDG app...except that when this little piggy went to market, the DDG cupboard was bare.
So I went
back to my smartphone, and searched again, two months
after finding DDG with
no problems. The DDG cupboard is
still bare. DDG is "not there."
So now I'm on my old trusty laptop (Win XP sp3, FireFox 8.0 Browser, DDG default search engine):
- I searched "android market" (DDG found the "Official Site" no problem -- "way to go, duck duck!" ;-)
- Clicked the Android official site link, selected Apps as my high-level category.
- Clicked in the Search Bar, and entered "duck duck go"... then pressed [Enter]

- The "Official" Duck Duck Go app is...gone. Not there. Sorry. Want to play "Duck Hunter"? No prob. Want the "Unofficial Duck Duck Go Droid" app by one Johan Hilding? That's 6th down in the results list -- and that's as close I get.
- On a lark, I just fired up Internet Explorer (8), and -- though it was very hard for me -- selected "Bing"
as my "search provider." (What a surprise! ATT and Sprint's websites ranked higher than the "official" Android Market in Bing's results!) But after opening the App site, and searching for "duck duck go," same sad results... no official Duck Duck Go app to be found.
Folks, I'm sorry if I sound like a...
conspiracy theorist**, but I strongly suspect there are millions of Android Users out there right now, who even if they
knew how cool DDG is, would have a
really hard time finding it...

So please, fire up your PCs, your Macs, your U/Li/nux boxes, open any ol' browser & search engine, pull-up the "official" Android Market site, and search for "duck duck go". I'd love to hear some
good news...
Happy Trails, -AWAbooks
** But no, I
don't believe the Warren Commission Report, and if
you think Hitler was an uber-genius who bootstrapped Germany w/o a ton of American *$help$*, please search on "Edwin Black." If you're really brave, wiki "Smedley Butler" and "The Business Plot"... The $10 Trillion we'll finally owe in total for Iraq is
nothing new at all -- and sadly, my half-brother is a four-tour vet, who I'm sure has breathed in enough
depleted uranium to set off a Geiger counter (sadly, what you don't know can
really hurt you...)
