I know you said you would not implement this yegg but, i have recently come across Apertium - thanks to Mike Sheldon's script hacking of Free (as in neckbeard) Kindle dictionaries - that may worth extra consideration should you ever wish to revisit this feature request and have an "in house" solution of your own or farm it out to a script to pull for you.
