Not to mention but all browser extension platforms are not built the same.
it might be possible to do a duckduckgo crossplatform multibrowser toolbar, but it seems like a waste of time and effort between browser updates, features that often times get changed or replaced as an newer browser comes out, and an already near standardized platform for doing search via the browser called Open Search, which allows duckduckgo to work with the searchbars of almost every browser out there.
If someone want's to tie in duckduckgo into an addon, there is nothing stopping them, but I'd rather they spend time working on making the search engine better for everyone, not just certain browsers extension platforms.
Duckduckgo is already hugely extensible with zero click and !bangs, so everyone gets something out of it, without needing to choose between safari, opera, internet explorer, firefox, and chrome.
The biggest problem with adding a toolbar is tracking questions.
Who's to say duckduckgo's toolbar (not saying they ever would) doesn't start tracking you directly.
Toolbars are a problem because they may be convenient, but they are intrusive and get really close to your computer without the buffer that a normal webpage would provide.
