That's an interesting idea and would be cool for the community to have its own icon, but I don't have any good thoughts for that should be :)

wait whats a favacon??

Favicons are extremely difficult to make and get any real detail.

But how about a new logo on the DDG forum.

I took a stab at this one based on @eet_fuk's idea.

So, here are some ideas:

First of all I'm not an artist or  graphic designer. I can only propose some rough ideas. Fortunately, there are some friends who knows much on such things. Almost every friend contributing to discussions in Graphics Forum can do nice things, I believe. For sure, mods can coordinate the effort.

The easiest way to go would be using an icon which we already have and which is different in colour. There are some examples on github's duckduckgo project pages. Especially here. For example you can pick this one and the problem which I have told about in my original post will be solved because its a green based logo on contrary to the red duckduckgo.com favicon.

Or you may try to create something using the duck we already have, in a manner to give the community idea. I gave a try and named it as gang of co ducks:

Or you may go to different directions. If we keep the "duck" idea fixed but not the current sketch, you can draw something like ducks in a meeting, you can vary the colours of the ducks. lets say, if you use three ducks you may draw one of them with a greenish head (ad in the mallard males, one as brownish (as its the case with female mallards), one may be white (as in the peking ducks)... That kind of approach may underline unity and diversity and baybe will be nice for female community members as well as males. Something like the one below might give an idea (sorry I can not draw animes, sketches so I used some pictures; and do not use the ones below anywhere because their originals are most probably under non-free licenses). I named this one as gang of ducks:
