We're thinking of doing a flyer campaign where we encourage users, especially at dense places like colleges and universities to hang up flyers.

I just updated our original flyer: https://github.com/duckduckgo/logos/raw/master/flyers/flyer.pdf

What do you think of this idea and of the flyer?

The raw file is at https://github.com/duckduckgo/logos/blob/master/flyers/flyer.docx (yes I know, MS...) if you want to mess around with it.

Anywhere else you think would be a good place for flyers, I don't go to colleges that much.

I've always been a fan of telephone poles as long as you don't get caught ;)

Any possibility of another one though, maybe with more technical information? I live in a college town that I think would be very receptive to both (justifiable) paranoia about tracking and the !bang searches. Maybe the herpes example from donttrack.us

If I have time I can try and make one, but no guarantees about it materializing or not sucking.

California Penal Code section 556 states that, “

556.  It is a misdemeanor for any person to place or maintain, or
cause to be placed or maintained without lawful permission upon any
property of the State, or of a city or of a county, any sign,
picture, transparency, advertisement, or mechanical device which is
used for the purpose of advertising..."

Since your audience is on the web, links work best.
If you had a special service that could gain you new reports. 
(Look how much publicity G. got by doing a barrel roll and 
allowing graphing on an X Y graph.

Put the QR code on a T-shirt. That will get photos/and links.

I feel like the pull off slips are kind of unnecessary and outdated. I think it should have a QR code on it to. I was bored and made an ugly mock-up, hopefully it will expire someone.

It's positioned poorly though since someone might rip it off. I'll spread some throughout campus and see what happens.

Anyone know how to incorporate the logo into the QR code?

That'd be kind of epic since it'd be easier to point a camera phone at the duck rather than the corner of the flyer.

Cooler deutscher Flyer :-) Ich hätte nur gern ein paar winzige Änderungen dann würde ich echt sagen sollte man das verteilen! :-) auf jedenfall definitiv http://duckduckgo.de/, weil wir planen in Zukunft dort auch eine "deutschere" Fassung zu machen, also warum jetzt ne schlechtere URL verteilen, derzeit wird es halt einfach umgeleitet bis wir das eingerichtet haben.

Aber so echt coole sache :) die DDG.gg URL sollte man wegnehmen oder als http://ddg.gg/ schreiben sonst verwirrt das, und die andere würde ich auch mit http:// versehen, für den deutschen standard bürger hehe ;).

I teach as a fill-in at our local college and know a lot of people there. I have, am, will, continue to spread the word. There are at least 15 people I know of who love using DDG. I will be putting up some flyers there as well.

I'm guessing the first and second QR codes go to DontTrack.us and DontBubble.us respectively, but where does the third one go? The DuckDuckGo homepage, or somewhere else?

I hope I'm not wrong but I have a gut feeling that DuckDuckGo will be a household word by 2013 and be on the top 5 list for most used search engines by the end of 2013 or 2014. I am going to print off some of your flyers and put them up in local laundromats where they have bulletin boards. I've just sent away for DuckDuckGo stickers and when I have the extra money I'm going to buy a T-Shirt. And I'm someone who doesn't were LOGO type shirts. I've just done a Youtube video promoting DuckDuckGo davidsawyervlog and I have also set DuckDuckGo as my homepage. I used to be a huge Google fan but they have been too annoying and obnoxious. I also used to use Yahoo but their homepage is way too busy and annoying. I love how your home page is a Simple & Sophisticated looking search box. I don't like the suggestions options that google uses and that their search box jumps around the page when we are trying to type. It's so refreshing to find your site. Keep up the good work and I hope you continue to grow.

I think flyers have their place but you really need to market online, reach a mass audience.

You could also do with trying to get the owners of DDG to knock up some pro graphics.

If you are at college or university create articles and posts about DDG and link to DDG.

If you have a blog post on that; link to DDG and run banners.

If you know other people with websites ask them to do likewise.

Creat youtube videos demostrating the prowess of DDG, and give them titles that are likely to attract attention, maybe just add DDG splash screens to the begining of your videos, do some stuff with xtraNormal.

Tell people about the stuff you create on facebook.

Tweet about it.

Ask others to do the same, these are the things that will allow DDG to go mainstream.

My final point, two questions:

1) How did you find out about Facebook?
2) How did you find out about Twitter?

Again, do not want to upset anyone... just giving an opinion...

Can the real privacy portion include "DuckDuckGo does not collect or share personal information"? -- that might help differentiate/understand our privacy policy

Can the link to DDG be in a different color or size to make it a bit more prominent?

Hi, I´m new.

As far as I´ve seen this topic is still alive and ddg needs more visual assets, so I´ve decided to create yet another version of the flyer. I wanted to keep it clean and as much informational as possible. I kept the font that Etjaark used - seems that it does the job. It would be great to hear what do you think about it, and what do you think could be changed or added. I have two versions of it - for colour and b&w printing, in letter format for now.

Also I am not sure whether it's a good idea to show the duck icon twice (in the top part).
