I’m sorry to hear that. You add a lot to the forum and I think some of your ideas are good. You also bring youth and excitement to it, as well.
I find it interesting that you say this, as a couple of others have also expressed similar feelings today as well. Makes me wonder what is going on.
I admire yegg for what he is attempting to do here, developing a product for the masses and incorporating as many options as possible for the end user. It was pretty brave of him to use an open forum to gather user opinions and feedback. He has made a noble effort to incorporate as many options as possible and I expect he will continue to do so.
However, I fully understand that he must work on developing the backbone of his product, which is the search engine. To develop a product of this magnitude, I’m sure it is extremely time consuming and there are many issues that he must address that are far more technical than I’m capable of comprehending.
I suspect that maybe some are growing a bit weary of this development phase of DDG. They see a lot of things they like about DDG and they want to see it grow and mature into a great product, but to coin an old phrase, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” I’ve been using technology for many years and I’ve used many software products. All of those products were not fully matured the first time I used them but as time went on the better ones did develop into good products. But, it does take time.
I feel strongly that DDG will develop into a great product and I’m sure that in time all of the bells and whistles that many of us want, will all fall into place. We just need to hang in there and be patient while yegg works through it.
I’ll close with one more saying from the ‘60’s, which I’m sure many of you don’t remember, “Keep the faith, man!”
