Maybe we can transition the duck on both the main page and the results page if we detect that the user is typing in one of the holidays. e.g. Christmas, Diwali, Ramzan, Rosh Hashanah, etc...
(this is while the user is typing, not after he/she has it enter).

there isn't even an autosuggest at this point in time, so this idea doesn't really seem feasible until it is implemented. maybe those could be an easter egg during the holiday season?

Well, it could be independent of auto-suggest. I mean it isn't really suggesting anything - just something for the holidays! Maybe bring a smile to someone's face!

Google did something really great like this last year:
