Yes, it helps, but it's not really satisfying. I really do want to manually add my page to DDG and then I would like a confirmation and a result. This for multiple reasons - for one it would give DDG a more autonomous feeling instead of relying on others. But also I just really don't want to have to add my site to other engines so DDG can pick it up from somewhere else.
So forgive me for stressing this in the following way:
If I am allowed to add my site to DDG then I would delete my site from google/bing/baidu/yahoo asap!
Bigcorps are tracking me and my visitors like paranoid people (i.e. neoconservatives) want to track their kids. They'd put the chip into their arms as soon as they get the chance. Those search engines like above do exactly the same and cannot be trusted.
Can DDG be trusted? It sure feels like it.
So please and by all means, and please again: fire up your own spiders and don't rely on subjective results from others.
Despite my current anonymity I am, and will continue to promote DDG as the new kid in town that will knock all of the others out of the race. Simply because (among other things) it does not track. Such a simple difference will, at the right point in time, get people hooked.
It's all about foundation - only when a foundation has been set in stone can you build a sky scraper.
DDG has the potential to become the largest and most visited search engine of the west. Asia has their own restrictive thing, you can't really change that and they will have their own revolution when the time is right. But in the present day the focus must be on the people of the west, though perhaps Russia will also become a large user base.
Whether anyone believes this today, or not, I don't care. I am in the position to be certain about this fact. I'm not a rock star or a celebrity but then again I'm certain that our modern pop culture will not initiate the search engine revolution. They will hop on the band wagon at a later time and the search engine revolution will be initiated by another crowd.
To conclude I'll have to make one more point which is this -- to become the major player in the new free world you (i.e. DDG) will have to stick to the plan to be 100% autonomous. Also it has to relocate its primary corporate locality so that it is NOT based in the United States - I can't stress this enough. SOPA and other legislation is terribly threatening and potentially devastating to your users and company so make sure that you will move your corporate foundation to a safer place.
