It has a nice look but lacks the options of DDG in itself.
 
I logged in using my yahoo account but I’m not sure I really get the point unless you plan to offer additional options in the future.

I like the auto complete feature but why is the search list limited to 25 items?

Where do you plan to go from here?

I guess as far as the search engine goes I’m kinda spoiled by DDG and all of the options yegg offers his users.
 
I have also played with several pages that incorporate the DDG search engine using the html version. My current concepts set a predefined group of search settings using the URL settings but lands on the normal DDG landing page. From here each user can set their preferred settings. This would give my users a great search engine but still give them all of the great features of DDG and not take them away from yegg's site. Others out there have created customized landing pages, as you have.

For a good programmer (which I’m not as my user name implies) the options you could offer would be limitless. From user defined backgrounds, news links, email links, etc. There has been a lot of discussion on this forum about these possibilities.

Although DDG is still maturing and has room to grow, the current product (search engine) is hard to improve on. My opinion is that many pages may be able to incorporate the DDG search engine and offer additional products, services, addons, links, etc. but offering anything less than the options yegg has built in seems inferior. Please do not take offense here as I have already struggled with this issue for the sites I currently have under development.

I guess if your approach is to attract users to your DDG based search engine then you are on the right track, but if your users try DDG first or after using your site what will bring them back to you? It would seem to me that you would either have to offer a better search service or one that was at least as good as DDG. The question here is will people see something superior about your search site?

My approach on the other hand is to offer other services. The incorporated DDG search engine is just gravy, so to speak. I have tossed around several things to date but none are published yet.

By the way, I'm interested in following the development of your site to see exactly where you take it.

I did not pick up on the speech recognition feature before. I can see where this could be a great feature, especially for those who may be physically challenged. Does it only work with Google Chrome? I know it’s hard to program certain things to work with all browsers. I like FireFox personally.

I did notice the Amazon tabs on the side and I do like Amazon’s affiliate program.

I also like the instant feature.

Do you have any plans for other types of links such as news or email?

When I click "settings" while logged out, I get a pop-up box from http://www.google.com/friendconnect/settings/edit?st=... (very long code at the end) that says:

I don't have any issues when logging in from the "sign-in" button.
