Now we have maps, why not directions?

Having turn-by-turn worded directions (along with a map illustration) would be a nice and convenient feature to have.

I'm not sure if this is even possible but I may as well put my idea out there.

I thought the use of location data could be nice (with consent, of course, and nothing stored)

Search examples:

“Directions from New York to San Francisco”

“Directions from here to California”

- Uses your current location for “here”

Directions could be displayed as:

- Map shows up with coloured lined-path from starting point to destination.

- Press the pop button to show turn-by-turn worded directions underneath the map.

Perhaps having the directions to the left of the map with a scroll bar to not expand the page longer.

also have like a side ways drop out for directions that way if you want to look at the map you wont have the directions to the side of it bugging you. if you decide to have to have it to the left.

Perhaps a zero click info would be good for this, add in optional alternative maps and it wouldn't raise to much of an issue.

e.g typing in new york to chicago would leave some short direction info and a link to a bigger page.
