I have a habit of always typing in Google dot com, when Google appear, I realize and then type DuckDuckGo dot com.

Since I'm having a hard time breaking this habit, I'd prefer to actually redirect Google dot com to DuckDuckGo dot com. Is there an extension for Firefox or simple javascript I could throw into UserContent.css?

(I initially tried using the Windows hosts file which works but as I use HTTPS Everywhere (Firefox addon) the combination ends up making DuckDuckGo throw out an error when clicking search results, making me have to refresh the page to get to the site I clicked on.)

I ended up just installing My Homepage add-on for Firefox and setting my homepage to duckduckgo dot com. Now everytime I open a new tab it automatically goes to duckduckgo.
