Spreading the use of DDG

As members of duck.co, we can do a bit more to spread awareness about DDG's existence and why we choose to use it. In order to get in front of the most receptive audience, please send yegg13 an email with:

- Name, email and organization of the person (blogger/ journalist/ other) you got in touch with

- If they replied to your email or not

Once we collect this data, we can then focus on who gets and connects with the messaging behind http://dontbubble.us/ & http://donttrack.us/, hopefully these folks use DDG for a while and then write about it.

What does the community think?

I have tried to do something similar. I created a website about boycotting Google, but I also stated why DDG was better and put in the link for donttrack.us. I don't know if it will do anything, but I have gotten some other people to switch.

Yes, I think as evident from http://duckduckgo.com/traffic.html - getting more people exposed to http://donttrack.us and http://dontbubble.us the better.

Okay. I think I am doing a trial with neomailbox.net, but I'm not sure if it's a trial. Do you know if it costs money?

Neomailbox.net costs money to use - they do not offer free accounts of any type, unlike most popular e-mail providers.

Off the topic of the magazine, I have not gotten a response from Harry McCracken or Eli Pariser, and I don't think they are going to reply. Has anyone else had success? It just seems they are too busy to email.

I've been spreading the duck extensively using search box banner code (the code with the duck logo => here http://duckduckgo.com/search_box.html ) which I've embedded on numerous sites. My question is this - if the duck image changes for a day, such as on Van Gogh's birthday (suggested by Charles in this thread https://duck.co/topic/logo-van-gogh-s-birthday-march-30 ) will the existing search box code be made to point to the hypothetical image of the day? I'd like to request that it be so.

Also, can someone explain what this means:
To track for spread page add your name where it says value=""
It's under the banner version search box here http://duckduckgo.com/search_box.html
What is the purpose of value attribute in this context? What is the spread page?

No, the search box logo will not change for a holiday like the homepage. Since holiday logos have different file names than the regular logo, we would have to manually point the search box to another file to do that. Nonetheless, we'll keep your suggestion in mind for the future, when we might find a dynamic way to do that.

That attribute references a now defunct page where there was a leader-board of the top users by the number of visits they sent to DuckDuckGo (it was an affiliate program of sorts). I'll file a report to get that line removed from the search box page.

Thanks! I hope you will find a dynamic way to point to the holiday logos. It would go far in building the community by drawing in people who are drawn to graphics, holidays, history - a pretty broad swatch. If I can help in any way don't fail to let me know.

I am a recent convert and now promote DDG every chance I can get. Of course the challenge lies in getting people to listen, especially on Facebook.
