When using DDG as a site search on our own sites is there an option to return results iframed within our own sites?

(similar to Google CSE)

No. Right now, DuckDuckGo doesn't have permissions from all the sources it uses to offer that.

There's a search box though:

Yes, I have already added a search box up on one of my sites and set it up as a site search.

Do you think returning results on our own pages will come in the future, or will that only happen if not having to reply on 3rd party sources?

Also, the site search isn't particularly good at the moment on my site, it appears to pull all the the pages that have the search word on them, but not particularly ranked how one would expect.

Can we submit sites to the DDG system so they crawl our sites better, or is it all just automated?

I put the search box on the blog section of my site, the blog is set up so the sidebar displays recent posts, I then search for the title of the post and would expect the post itself to be returned top.

A lot of the time it doesn't though it retuns a category or a page top because the search term is in the sidebar.

One would expect the actual post itself would be dilivered top, but DDG seems to favour the category pages instead (because the phase is in the sidebar)

It may be that the posts themselves aren't in the Bing index, but a site: search on Google for the phrases tends to act more as one would expect.

I think those articles from your website just haven't entered the DuckDuckGo index yet.

Generally, a similar search would produce a website's main article on top, even if it is mentioned on other pages of that website:
