9M Instant Answers Added in Four New Languages

We're proud to announce the first four languages in our push to internationalize instant answers!

Over 9 million articles from the French, German, Czech and Polish Wikipedia are now part of our instant answers database. Here are some examples:

You will see these new answers automatically if your web browser is setup to prefer any of these languages. Or you can change your language on the DuckDuckGo settings page.

We will be adding many new languages in the coming months, and Spanish and Russian are next on the list! If you'd like to request a language or have feedback to share, just send us a tweet or an email.

Small bug: all instant answers leads to unencrypted wikipedia (http), is it intentional, or it's a bug?

Well done.

Awesome!

Do you plan to add a flag to API to select language? :-)

You mean the DDG api? https://api.duckduckgo.com/api or in DuckDuckHack Instant Answers: http://duckduckhack.com/

Ah, thanks.

Actually, you don't *need* to specify the language because you will get back an article any time it matches the wiki title. But you can additionally use the 'kad' parameter to prefer one language over the other: https://duckduckgo.com/params
