Community Activity and Overview
Hello, everyone!
The documentation is the first thing that new DuckDuckHack developers encounter, and it's important to get it right. We've been adding new sections recently, but we're so familiar to it that it's possible that we're doing something wrong. If you have comments about it, write us an issue!
Notable Changes:
- New documentation for the Goodie templates!
The new Goodies API allows developers to use Handlebars.js templates and JavaScript. This makes it much easier to write front-end code. Check out the Goodie Display section if you're interested! - Date badges
We rolled out standard date badges that can be used across Instant Answers.
New Instant Answer Ideas:
- LaTeX Rendering
Render LaTeX code as an image. - Languages in a Country
Give people the languages in a given country. - Ruby Documentation
Give information about Ruby classes and functions right on DuckDuckGo. Here's an example result for JavaScript.
5-minute Fixes:
- Similar Sites: Border should be re-added
- Stocks: Check when market is closed
If the market is closed, we should indicate that on the Instant Answer. - Time: Mobile layout broken
The date should be aligned with the time on mobile devices.
Weekend Warriors:
- Merge all package tracking Instant Answers
We currently have separate modules for handling package tracking. It would be easier to handle ambiguous tracking numbers (sometimes a tracking number is valid for multiple companies) and generate a UI for it. - SeatGeek price alignment is off
Sometimes the price can get pushed down to the bottom of the tile. Help us investigate why. - Guitar Chords: Use less ambiguous filenames
Letter casing is problematic on some platforms.
Have a good weekend!
