The First Global Quack & Hack

DuckDuckGo Global Quack and Hack banner

Join the DuckDuckGo community Saturday, August 29th for 24 hours of hacking our search engine! Our community will come together virtually and at meetup groups worldwide for the first-ever, “Global Quack & Hack” -- a day of improving the search experience for developers. Along with 24 hours of staff chat support, participants will connect with other members of the community, learn about our open source platform, and create Instant Answers for tech-related searches that they do (like this).

1. Request an invite to our Slack Team. Meet other devs in the community who are searching the same topics and preparing Instant Answers for them! DuckDuckGo staff will provide 24 hours of live-chat help via Slack on Aug 29th from 05:00AM EDT to 05:00AM EDT on Aug 30th. Please be gentle--we're a small crew but a large community!

2. Claim an Instant Answer idea or submit one of your own for the big day! We’ve posted hundreds of developer-focused Instant Answer ideas that you can claim ahead of the big day. Grab one for yourself or submit your own and let the community know what you’re up to!

3. Check out the docs and ask questions! Get familiar with the code or set your environment up ahead of time! Let us know if you have any questions ahead of the event.

4. Find the most convenient broadcast time for you to learn more about what we're doing that day and beyond. We'll be repeating the same broadcast throughout the day, to make sure everyone can join in!

5. Stick around! We'll be working together long after the event ends, until every community member can search DuckDuckGo knowing their interests are represented. We need leaders to moderate Instant Answers in the topics they love and you're the perfect candidate.

Together, we can change the future of search! Join us to make that happen!

See you on Saturday!

Greetings, Josh Conway here.

We're also doing a maker and hacker convention this Saturday as well. Makevention.org , put on by the Bloomington, IN hacker space Bloominglabs, as well as the Renaissance reenactment group Society for Creative Anacrhonism.

We also have significant involvement from Indiana University as well as our local College, Ivy Tech.

I've been using your service since you first took it live on HN (I was that downtrodden blackberry user... alas). Didn't know if you wanted to organize in some cross-advertisement?

If you're interested, just email me, or call (317)3768735

Good luck, and happy hacking :)

Hey Josh! You can reach out to meetup@duckduckgo.com but would recommend removing your number in case it gets spammed
