Joining DuckDuckGo as Community Manager
Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce myself. Having been a DuckDuckGo user and contributor for a few years now, I'm proud to say I'm joining DuckDuckGo full-time from this week as Community Manager. Woohoo! Working with the rest of the community team, my aim is to make it easy and fun to not just use DuckDuckGo but also to contribute to its success. Whether you are creating Instant Answers (IAs), leading meetup groups, providing feedback or just exploring DuckDuckGo, I'm here to help!
One of the first things I'm excited to announce is the addition of an attribution icon to Instant Answers on DuckDuckGo.com:
Clicking the icon will expand to show you the author of the Instant Answer as well as link to a page with screenshots, developer information, and example searches that trigger the IA. From there, you can file bugs or suggest improvements. I recommend taking a look to learn more about these contributions and appreciate the many developers that have created them.Check it out on some of the Instant Answers I've created in the past:
Finally, on a personal note, I'm a British guy living in Japan and am excited to spread some DuckDuckGo love to a varied world audience. Timezones are often a challenge but hopefully I can help ensure that the community is responsive around the clock. A key part of this are the Quack & Hack meetup groups for developers which are appearing in more and more countries. Look out for one near you or if you're an enthusiastic developer, consider leading one yourself.
I look forward to chatting, helping and developing together with you. Quack on!
