Friends Newsletter #43

This is a copy of our monthly friends email newsletter. If you want to get it via email, you can sign up on our about page.

Dear DuckDuckGo friends,

We're very happy to report that our search traffic remained above 110 million searches last month like the month before, which means a lot of the people who've tried us out over the past few months have decided to stay. We're sure a lot of those new DuckDuckGo users were introduced by people on this list so thank you!

We're also very proud that our new DuckDuckGo Search and Stories app was featured in TIME magazine's 50 best apps for 2013.

You might want to check it out if you haven't already:

(We're evaluating developing for other platforms.)

Finally, we're always looking for new additions to our staff: https://dukgo.com/help/en_US/company/hiring

Thank you for your continued support!

Very interesting what you do here. You should be able to let users add website to search engines. I tried to add site http://www.petfinders.biz but without success... :(

We don't even do that much indexing. All that said, you can submit your site to Bing--it could speed up the process a tiny bit.

Thank you Duckduckgo for keeping internet searches private. I've been trying to use your services as much as possible, but I have a suggestion that would optimize my experience as a blogger. Most of the time I just need to find an image that matches my blog post, and I end up using Google (which I'd rather not do). If I could have one wish, it would be to have a quick tab or bookmark next to your search engine. The current drop-down box is not intuitive enough.
Thanks for being better than Google!!!

We're working on our own image search but, in the meantime, you can !bang to almost any image service that exists. Check out: https://duckduckgo.com/bang.html

For example, if you wanted to search for images on flickr and you're currently on DuckDuckGo, just search for:

!flickr golden retriever

Much faster than using the dropdown!
