How much more powerful would DuckDuckGo be if there was an Instant Answer for every programming language and framework? Let's find out!
On the week that we celebrated our 2nd (or 8th) birthday, it seems appropriate to share a bit about who we are. As you may know, DuckDuckGo staff are scattered across the world, mostly working remotely. So we're all sitting on the beach with a laptop in one hand and cocktail in the other, right? Not quite! Here's the view from a few of our office chairs (à la Basecamp).Read the full story

At this time of year we like to think about what we can do for other open source projects through our annual donations. As usual, 50% of the total donation will be decided by your nominations for projects that could benefit. The theme this time is raising the standard of trust online so if you have suggestions, please add them in the comments section of the call for nominations.Read the full story
At this time of year we think about how we can help out open source projects with a financial donation and as before, we'd like you to be part of the decision-making process.
Last year, we donated a total of US$125,000 to five different projects including the EFF's Privacy Badger and Girl Develop It, based on the theme of mainstream privacy. This year the theme remains privacy-focused but is also more closely aligned with our vision which is to raise the standard of trust online. The donation pool amount has yet to be decided but will be split between 6-10 projects, half of which will be chosen from community nominations.
Valentine's day and Galentine's day are all happening this weekend! But if you happen to have just a little free time and you can code, take a look at some of these and send some love our way, too.
We get lots of positive feedback every day about DuckDuckGo, and one of the most-frequent comments we hear is the fact that people love the themes and advanced settings. Being able to customize DDG is something we love too! But sometimes supporting all those settings across all of your devices can get tricky.Read the full story
Help us test things out on the beta server as well if you have the time!
On Saturday January 30, we embarked on a day of quacking and hacking, in other words uniting DuckDuckGo fans around the world to learn about how to contribute to DuckDuckGo and then put that into practice. Although the focus was on increasing awareness of our development community and its long-term plans, developers were clearly keen to get coding and we started getting contributions almost immediately.Read the full story

Last week we talked about about new platform features that are available to you. One of the features that is available on the duck.co/ia/dev page is a section called "Recently on Beta" which shows the Instant Answers that are currently in testing.
So an easy way to help out is to simply try these Instant Answers out! See if you're getting things as expected, and feel free to leave a message to the developer even if it's just a simple "This is awesome!" comment.
Every day, coders around the world are helping to improve DuckDuckGo by creating Instant Answers for the topics they care about (and search) the most. On Saturday, January 30th, join us for a day dedicated to getting you involved with:
