Weekly Update 82: Support for Japanese Wikipedia!

Hello, devs!

Over the past few weeks we've been busy adding support for Japanese Wikipedia entries — around 1.5 million of them! If you now search in Japanese you should see Instant Answer summaries for some searches. For example, きつねうどん (kitsune-udon; delicious thick noodles with deep-fried tofu) and ジョウビタキ (jobitaki; a small bird called a Daurian redstart). A big thank you to user marsf for helping with testing.

What do security certificates actually do?

Security certificates play a vital role in this verification and you may have seen warning messages in your browser about certificates being out of date or somehow incorrect. Let's look at how these certificates are used so you can hopefully have more trust in your online interactions and make informed choices when warnings appear.

What does a secure web connection actually do?

When you surf the web you may require privacy, whether it's because you're sending financial details, researching sensitive information or simply wanting to keep your data to yourself. For this purpose, an increasing number of websites and services are using secure web connections, shown by a padlock or similar indication in your browser's address bar. Such websites also use "https://" at the beginning of their address rather than "http://". Think of it as automatic encryption. But what protection does that give you? How much of your surfing data is secure?
