Valid point :) User location would be less of an issue because we show the same results to everyone by default, regardless of location, since it makes no assumptions about the user's intent.
For the importance of a particular event, there are some cues from Wikipedia that can help like the number of categories an entity belongs to. Definitely a few ways to do this so, if interested, feel free to take a ***** at it and email us at email@example.com with any questions.
