Since you don't log by IP address are your traffic stats inflated from traffic coming from DDG employees?

traffic is calculated by number of searches, not IP address.

Which is exactly the point. Each employee will do "x" number of requests a day when they are testing, etc. Multiply that by the number of employees and you quickly have a lot of "fake" traffic. If you don't track by IP address then you have no way to filter out these requests.

<20 employees. 6,174,431 direct 15,505,274 api searches on last count.

What would the point be? If your conjecture were the case, why would DDG publish down-turns in hits, or are the downturns when employees take vacations?

Bob the scarecrow set-up a bot that hits DDG with a random search words every 5 seconds. Bob has expanded, thus the traffic stats are inflating.

Find Bob on youtube, he is fighting google+ as he never liked this update.
