Need help setting up DuckDuckGo as search engine on mac mini

Hi Gang, the mac is an OS10. I tried following the Duck instructions but they don't seem to get me there. The icons suggested are not in the menu bar. should be fairly straight forward but it's not working. If anyone can lead me through this I'd greatly appreciate the help[.

Simple! If you use Safari, simple Click Safari > Preferences...

Then, click Search. The first option will ask "Search engine:" and so you can just add DDG as your default search engine. If you don't use Safari, well, then you shoulda told us! :P

You'll need Safari 7.1 or later for DuckDuckGo to appear as a Safari search engine option. If you're using an earlier version of Safari, try our extension instead.
