What environment are you using and specifically what page (URL) are your referring to? Have you tried some of the available themes in the DDG settings?

Thanks,

Cyberfox or Firefox look the same--border of entry field is very "soft"

Yes the white on black themes I cannot use as I run CSS that turns all text BLACK do that I can see it better. The other themes do not change the box border.

colors, line thickness, fonts, etc. are always a matter of taste\personal need which is why they give you some options
maybe the html version of ddg would work better for you -

Well I guess "personal taste" applies, but it is pretty important to be able to distinguish the entry ox from the background. Besides, I fail to see how it would harm any other group of people if the box had clearer borders?

I'm happy that it works fine for you. Let's ignore the rest of us, eh?
And we wouldn't want to "shout" at anybody (boy, are they so sensitive) even if it helps other people..
Yeah, I WOULD "control the appearance of the search box in settings > privacy." Ifonly it did let me get a box I could see, I would never have posted here.

I can see pretty clearly you don't care about some people having the issue, so long as it "look pretty."

I fully recognize that people with more contrasty monitors and better eyesight have no problems, so the rest of us should just go away.

Please remember that most of the comments here are posted by other community members and don't necessarily reflect those of DDG. Each community member is welcomed to share their opinion whether they agree or disagree.

Above a user suggested using the HTML version, which uses a more traditional appearing search box. Did you have an opportunity to give that a try? Of course, the html version of DDG isn't as full featured as the default version, but it might be a good match for you.

Maybe experimenting with the Appearance will help you to find a contrast combination that works better for you (sorry, no setting for the search field frame):

Depending on your needs and abilities, you might even be interesting in building your own DDG "home page", using the method discussed here:

Thanks!
