Why is there an iFrame on DDG search pages; what is it doing?

Here's the frame: https://duckduckgo.com/post2.html

For my own learning, is there a way to learn the location of this frame on the page?
What is the purpose of this frame? I assume it is displaying something but blocking it seems to make no visible difference to how the page looks.

It actually doesn't display any content. It's being used as a workaround in some browsers to strip the referrer header when you click on a link to another site. We do this to prevent third party sites from being able to see your search query.
