Someone should make one so we can show our support of DDG at any turn we can, I'm going to work on one, but lets see what everyone else comes up with

Where is that other (smaller) userbar you made for forum/email signatures? I've gotten some requests for it.

Please, please, please give us more of your wonderful userbars. (Or "source" of this one)
This one just seems too bright...

Here's a slightly smaller version I made based off of MrMagical's original userbar.

You can drag them right off here to your desktop.

How can you say its ad free, I know its a lot less ads than the other search engines but I thought DDG still has a few discrete ads. I like your picks too though and i picked the bottom one and ill put above it "For better results
." I just hope Yahoo's Rocketmail allows me to do this. Can we include links to like Mozilla plug-ins or IE gallery with this?

I think you got a bit confused, 09:18 Guest. The line "ad-free search engine with search suggestions" refers to the search engine Dumb Search, owned by the user dumbsearch.

DuckDuckGo is not promoted as being ad-free - there's even the message "ads via..." under the ad in the sidebar.

Maybe you could clarify what that line in your signature refers to, dumbsearch?

Here's a good tutorial on how to insert an image into your Yahoo Mail signature:
http://email.about.com/od/yahoomailtip1/qt/How_to_Insert_an_Image_in_Your_Yahoo_Mail_Signature.htm

I would suggest just using these buttons to link to the DuckDuckGo homepage, since the homepage already has a "Add to [name of user's browser]" button that links to the different DDG browser plugins.

It can be ad-free if you use Adblock Plus...  (you can still allow ads on some sites, like this one, if you want...)

Suggestion:
Animated gif of two ducks walking in line from left to right......then the word "Go!" [Search Box Here]

DuckDuckGo!......................

maybe that is too mean, perhaps replace the search bar text with "Switch to DGG"

What about when the search engine starts up you can have the circle showing a then the duck popping up out of it and then the words "DuckDuckGo" one by one shooting across from the left to where they are now (when they are moving there should be a blur as well so that the words look like they are moving very fast like race cars or something).

My opinion is that the userbar must "communicate" a message. Most notably tell what duckduckgo is about (a search engine) and it's purpose (helping users searching privately and maintain their privacy). It may be hard to create such userbar, but the outcome would be great I believe.

I've used the Antipixel version MrMagical posted for quite some time. In my opinion, a userbar which is too big equals a slap in the face. I hate them ;). The red color makes it an eye-catcher anyway.

It's very good. Always loved this type of bug.

Only (minor) complaint is the green "GO" at that particular font size, with the red background, does makes it ever so slightly difficult to see. Other than that they are both top notch and I use either of them depending on the layout of the page.

Here's one I whipped up using Mr Magical's first one, with a little change to make it longer, and some inspiration from a Guest.

Very nice! The only change I would suggest is to un-space the words Duck Duck Go ---> DuckDuckGo

Otherwise, thanks!

Merry Christmas. A bit of a pain because I deleted the XCF file, but otherwise no worries.
Major credit to Mr Magical for the base image and the guest who had the idea of a google-related quip in there.
I had to lengthen the original bar to accomidate the text, but apart from that, all good.

Oops, just realised the text at the very end wasn't fixed...

Update.

Better?

i'm confused about the banners with search bars.  is there code to make them function embedded in a page or are they just supposed to be images that link to duckduckgo?
posted by [Old Forum guest] • 5 years and 3 months ago Link
zac
Those examples are images to be used for things like email signatures. If you'd like an embeddable search box, check out ours at: https://duckduckgo.com/search_box.html

Should these link to the DuckDuckGo homepage or https://duckduckgo.com/about.html

I don't know what would be the best to do.

It's personal preference. I like the About page because it gives a good visual overlay about what we do and, if the user is curious, they can play the video or try a search. Good combination imo
