How can I hide the text/link "the search engine that doesn't track you. Learn more"
I have been using DDG for 4+ years, way before "blinders" experiment
I chose DDG 4+ years ago because it doesn't track me
I am the only user of my PCs
I dont want to learn more
I am using the DDG cloud to backup my preferences, and preferences cookies are perpetuated between sessions.

Browser Instructions
Homepage Animations
... are all disabled "OFF"

How can I hide/remove the message/text under the search bar ..."the search engine that doesn't track you. Learn more" ?
- is there an "about:<protocol>" used for DDG ?

Various searches of the web and this forum have failed to return one result, except why I should use DDG.

I would appreciate any help, thank you :)

The "Learn More" text is hard coded to the page and not available from a setting. You can use the Lite or HTML versions of DDG, but they are not as full featured. Since you are using Pale Moon and\or Firefox, you can select DDG as the default search engine and bypass the DDG home page completely.

I've also tested using uBlock Origin and you can block the "Learn More" line.

Thanks

Thank you x.15a2 for your reply :)

DDG is my default search engine, so how does that bypass the DDG home page completely ? What is the URL of the resulting page ?

I have resolved hiding the message/text/link ...
the search engine that doesn't track you. Learn more" ?

In Palemoon using ABL "Adblock Latitude" (ad blocker) and in Firefox ABP "AdBlock Plus" both with support Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus (mozilla extension) installed too.

RightClick ABL icon (in PaleMoon) or ABL icon (in Firefox) and use "Select an element to Hide" ... bingo ! ... and the the search engine that doesn't track you. Learn more" ? text and link are gone. Easily undone if necessary.

Thank you :)

Found DDG Lite ... https://duckduckgo.com/lite
- I see what you mean, no preferences

Also found DDG HTML version mozilla addon/extension ... https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox...

I will stay with the primary https://duckduckgo.com/ especially for its "preferences" and hide the the search engine that doesn't track you. Learn more" ? with adbolockers. If they cause problems, I will try "uBlock"

Thanks again :)

html version is https://duckduckgo.com/html - no settings

what i do not understand is why this is a concern at all - the ddg main page is very clean and it is reasonable for it to include this very minimalistic help

but beyond that...who spends any time on this page anyway...just type in your search and hit enter

the learn more line does not grab focus...it is just there so people can learn more about ddg which makes perfect sense.

If DDG is your default search engine (diffent than your Home page) , when you use the search bar or search using the URL bar, you will be taken directly to the DDG search results page, bypassing the DDG home page.

Using ABL with PM and\or ABP should work the same as uBO, I was just giving an example.
