Hello everyone!

Duck.co is a great place, and we want to make it even better for everyone involved. We'd like to open a discussion on our proposed forum rules below:
Welcome to Duck.co, the official DuckDuckGo community! To make your stay here as fun and enjoyable as possible, please respect and follow these forum rules:

All posts should have a purpose.
If you agree with something, please don't post "I agree". Instead, registered users should click "I find this discussion useful" or "I too have this question" or "I like this idea".

Be nice.
Insults or harassment towards any member of this forum is prohibited. Please respect each other.

Keep signatures small and concise.
The maximum size for an image/text signature is 500 x 150 pixels. Please refrain from using animations in your signature.

No advertisements or spam.
Unless the link is related to DuckDuckGo and the content of your post, don't post it. (However, if your website is related to DuckDuckGo, we encourage you to share it.)

One account per user.
Please do not post under more than one name. This includes posting as both a guest and as a registered user. If you forget to log in and post as a guest accidentally, make sure to respond to the post with "that was me" or something similar.

Please stay on-topic.
All responses to a topic should be related to the original post. If you would like to discuss something else, please start a new topic.

Read before you post.
Before posting, take a minute to read the FAQ and search the forum to see if your topic has been discussed and answered already.

Post in the proper forum.
All topics relating to DuckDuckGo's graphics should be posted in the DuckDuckGo Graphics forum. All other topics should be posted in the main DuckDuckGo forum.

Keep it clean.

Do not post or link to any website that contains sexually explicit, sexually suggestive, or gory content. In addition, please do not discuss illegal activities such as pirating.

No affiliate or referral links.
Please do not post any links to websites in which you stand to gain financially from users buying products or signing up for products through your links.

If you see a post that you believe is breaking these rules, registered users many report it to the moderators by clicking the "Inappropriate" button under each post.

Any topics/posts found breaking these rules will be locked or deleted by the moderators.

Duck.co's moderators are AGreenEarth, BlaXpirit, James Hunter, Mithrandir, MrMagical, and voop556.

Duck.co's administrator is yegg13, who is also the founder and operator of DuckDuckGo.

Anything else, or can these rules be added?

Now that Zeitgeistt is a moderator, I've added him to the moderator list at the end of the proposed forum rules. (Congratulations on the promotion, Zeitgeistt!)

(Sorry for the long break since my last post, everyone. There were some pressing issues in my life these past weeks that diverted my attention elsewhere.)

Just wondering, how do you become a moderator?

The same way as in every other forum on the net.

However, registering for an account would seem like a great first start.

Yegg chooses the moderators. His choices are probably based on a variety of factors.

I don't know how I missed this topic.

1. Great post GE, and sorry to hear things were rough, I wish you a better time ahead.

2. Zeit, congratulations on moderator, you deserve it. Now there are 2 great moderators.

Sincerely,

Paul

Thanks, blenderhead. We actually have seven moderators though: AGreenEarth, BlaXpirit, Mark Garret, Mithrandir, mrmagical, yegg13, and zeitgeistt.

I also just fixed a few broken links from the original proposed forum rules.

Updated the proposed forum rules to reflect Zeitgeistt's new username, in response to posts on this topic. Also clarified yegg13's position on Duck.co.

I have a few;

Do not Cross-Post
Do not post the same thing in more then one forum

Do not post Adult Content
Do not post any nudity, gore, suggestive content, or anything similar.

No Referral schemes
Do not post trap links, unethical links, scam links, or anything similar.

I didn't thoroughly read or understand the forums yet, but these are just a couple that are basic rules for forums that I would make.

Yah.
I've realized I'm one of the only moderators that filters profanity.

Thanks for the suggestions, Hollowrock, and welcome to the forums.

I've taken into consideration your suggestions and added and changed some of the proposed forum rules.

I generally filter out profanity by replacing all of the letters of the curse word except for the first one with asterisks.
