I'm going to try to do some promotion and I'm looking for "Wow" queries, i.e. those queries that produce results that make you go "wow, this is cool/better." If you come across any of these, please let me know.

Ones that have wow'd me:

How did you get all the Simpson's characters in DDG?

Using Wikipedia.

What if Wikipedia didn't exist, what are the alternatives?

Why doesn't the same work for "Disney Characters" or "Looney Toons Characters" or others?

http://duckduckgo.com/?q=Looney+Tunes+characters

Doesn't seem to be a specific Wikipedia category for disney characters. These category pages are created automatically for a bunch of sources, not just Wikipedia, but Wikipedia is the biggest.

Just found this one, yet when you enter Disney characters, they don't show up in DuckDuckGo.

List of * pages are of a different breed and I specifically ignore them for now, though I hope to come back to them at some point.

I like "opera":
http://duckduckgo.com/?q=opera

DDG comes up with more than just the two obvious results, and also I find the lack of local results an improvement over Google - Google gives me all sorts of local businesses, but it's not the sort of query that deserves local treatment

Also, "krona":
http://duckduckgo.com/?q=krona

DDG comes up with the comic character (not on the 1st page of Google), and also points out the multiple currencies that have a krona - Google's results imply that it's only Sweden.

Related to the Opera query, this one is cool too:

Not just a zero-click box on how to change your default browser in OS X but a screenshot actually showing how to!

I feature the search side by side with Google on my blog:

Showcasing http://duckduckgo.com/?q=black+sabbath+mob+rules&v= and how much garbage Google feeds into it. Nuff said! DuckduckGO!

Wow! I did a search for the soccer team the I support here in Brazil and was really great! It shows the neighborhood that gave name to it and the other teams of same name... nice!!
