dropped messages in xmpp

I'd recently noticed a lull in IM activity lately. Then a friend of mine mentioned he had issues messaging my dukgo jabber account 2 days back.


Hi. This is the qmail-send program at flash.duckduckgo.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<[...my user name...]@dukgo.com>:
Unable to open ./Mailbox: access denied. (#4.2.1)
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.

This seems isolated to the past few days, as I'm able to send and receive messages now. Was there any server update on-going at the time, and if so, is there always the risk of permanently losing production messages in that timeframe?

That error you posted is from our email server, not the XMPP server. It looks like your friend tried to send email to your XMPP address, which doesn't do much at all.
