What is difference between DDG Plus and search plugin only

On looking into DDG (I'm using Firefox version 28.0) I see that the Add to Browser option puts up two alternatives:-
-- Install DuckDuckGo Plus
-- Install search plugin only

I can't find anywhere that tells me what the difference is between these two options.

Can some one give me a simple (ie. plain English - not nerd-speak) description of the differences between these two options and when/why either would be recommended over the other?

Please note that I am a *user* of PC's - not a techie - so a plain English answer is what I need. An overly technical answer will just leave me none the wiser.

To summarise, in your search bar (top right of the browser window) you can use the down arrow to select another search engine. The plugin adds DuckDuckGo to the list.

DuckDuckGo Plus does this, but also gives you single-click access to popular bangs, definitions for selected text (right click menu) and other features.

What exactly doesn't work? It doesn't install? It doesn't give you a button? It isn't the right colour of red?
What browser? Any errors?
