An instant answer for sports scores. Theoretically, any score could be added, once a reliable source is found for the data. Most leagues have their own websites, so there would not be much of a challenge to find the correct stats.
Source:
A query could be "Braves vs. Diamondbacks" and the box score would come up with a link to MLB.com as the source.

If your thinking about soccer (in America) you could use www.goal.com for the game data.

Has anyone picked this up? I'd like to give it a go.

This is a fantastic idea. One hurdle that comes to mind though: most sport team logos, if you wanted to display them next to the box score, require a licensing agreement due to trademark and copyrights.

This could be easily be overcome in a creative way.

Access to timely stats is another concern since most sports stats providers charge for their services. ESPN has an API but it's only open to "strategic partners" from the look of their docs.

Timely stats has proved to be an issue. There are a host of paid providers, but no free public facing API, unfortunately.

I'm continuing to look into that or to find a way that (legally) gets live scores of games.

Or even just schedules.

This is something that I'd be interested in trying to pick up.

From some quick research, it looks like Google may tap into data that is not publicly available (whether from ESPN or from nfl.com directly). I'll keep looking around for a data source (or multiple), as this is definitely a feature that I'd love to have implemented.

Just wondering. Are you guys also developing for soccer? If so, just for American soccer or also for European Football?
