Entering a Microsoft KB number should at least return a targeted link to the support article:

for example http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311503

It would be nice if it also handled MSyy-nnn bulletins as well.

Is there any good source for the data this would need as a Goodie, or any API that would be useful as a Spice?

Indeed; I've had a quick look and couldn't find an API however it'd be even better if it could be a spice as we could hopefully get the titles back etc

As in entering "kb 311503" as the search phrase or "ms 311503", or "ms yy-nnn" for bulletins; with or without the space?

I was thinking probably primarily "KB311503" as I usually paste them from the systeminfo command; however the other formats would make sense too

I'm curious, do they have an API?

I've been unable to find one on the microsoft API site: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/...

This might just be best as something addressed in the organic relevancy (rather than IA), I've created an internal ticket.
