Departure times for trains in the Netherlands

The Dutch railway company NS has an api for querying the departure times for trains for a chose railway station.

Documentation is here (in Dutch unfortunately) but it is a SOAP/XML endpoint.

http://www.ns.nl/api/api

So firing this kind of URL http://webservices.ns.nl/ns-api-avt?stat... would return an XML file containing at least 10 departing trains, starting in the current hour.

Reading your documentation I would like to implement a Spice answer type. NS will give out credentials to authenticate the request.

From a user perspective this could work as follows.
1 user opens duckduckgo.com
2 user enters "ns utrecht"
3 user receives 10 or more departing trains in the coming hour.

I would like to implement the idea myself using the technology stack defined by DuckDuckGo.

I would love the same thing but in Sweden! Here we have a national REST API called "ResRobot" that's free to use but requires a license key that you get by adding your app at their site trafiklab.se.

I'd love to build a Spice for it myself if you don't mind me hijacking your idea! I've got an API key already so all I need is a couple of days free time :)

Sorry for replying late. I did not get around to do this idea. And I found out the the Dutch rail way api is based on XML/SOAP which apparently you can't use in Spice. What a pity.... You know any good PERL tutorials, because that s another show stopper for me.

PLS. Let me know when you got it running.
