This is great. Or simply showing a brief description of the command and some of the common arguments/options. e.g. unix ls (shows what is does and some of the common arguments like -r -a and etc.)

@Kaiyli LI that's a great idea. Any good data sources in mind?

Isn't this already a plugin?
!man cat -> http://man.cx/cat

A good source for the pages might be: https://www.kernel.org/doc/man-pages/dow...

I don't think it would be too hard to pull from multiple sources if some of them are incomplete.

If you are willing to give a newbie programmer a chance, I will take this on as a summer project.

Hey, I'd like to work on this plugin, if nobody has started on it already. :-) I've forked the repo/started working on it.

@Mehrez. It would be most helpful at the moment to look for additional reliable sources of man pages (not CGI generated. static pages/files we can fetch and parse.) =)

It would be showing the basic info inline, like https://duckduckgo.com/?q=git+branch

For what it's worth, I believe it would get far more use if it responded to simply "man x" rather than "Unix man x".

One caveat: Different *nixes have different features.

For example I'm a fan of the rm- P flag, but that's BSD only.

If I type "!man rm" the result doens't mention -P as option.

So we might want to make sure that alternate man pages (e.g. bsd etc) show up below the instant answer in case someone's looking for something a bit obscure.

Another example: "pbcopy" is OSX only.

As a designer I'd say give the most likely result as an instant answer, and show edge cases in the first few results.
