to generate the full lyrics of the songs as an instant search. It displays whole lyrics of the song.

I know lyrics goodie exists but it is not efficient. I tested it and this is what i found.
1. the source is lyricsmode.com which does not have lyrics of many ones like led zeppelin , or pink floyd.
2. some times even if the site has the lyrics it does not show up as an instant search but as a regular search result, and sometimes it wont even be the first result.
3.For the results which turn up the lyrics are not full.

This is why i want to build a completely new DDG goodie for music lyrics.

What about songs with funny lyrics that nobody can understand, like "wooly booly"? Would the search criteria be "!songbylyrics xxx", where "xxx" is the lyrics?

Would this be easily expandable to books, in a grep sort of fashion? "!bookbywords xxx"

Sounds like copyright territory. Lyrics are copyrighted material, usually. So are the musical scores. Which is why we refer to them by their titles and albums. But, as an owner of such material one might be able to tell people which song/book they were referring to, without violating the copyright. The issue there, is that duckduckgo would have to either rely completely on open-source information or own a copy of every piece of literature.

I think someone needs to start open-sourcing the song-lyrics, first. If that is even legal. And, that is no easy task, by itself.

This issue is a little dated now. Within the past few months we launched a new Lyrics Instant Answer which uses MetroLyrics as the source. Here's an example:

Unfortunately it does not show the whole lyrics. Was it not possible to integrate it?

Due to various reasons (licensing agreements, copyright) we're unable to show the full lyrics for a song in an Instant Answer. We are only allowed to show the portion of the lyrics which match your query, or the first bit of the song when it matches the name.

Alright. Sad that one need to go this way, but at least we have a bit of lyrics. So maybe one should point out in a better way that the song is not over at the end of the lyrics displayed by DDG, since I thought that at first after pressing "show more". One could maybe change the name of the link "metrolyrics" to something like display the whole song.

That's a great point. I've made a task for the design team to investigate this. Thanks!
