Unfortunatly, because of DDG's way of generating results, it may not be possible for them to stop it mixing Octoberski and October Sky. (If DDG's index expands, I expect this may get better).

Personally, I think it should say "Currently searching for 'Search Term'" whenever it has the Did You Mean stuff. Then at least you would know if it had moved to the alternative search.

While you're waiting for DDG's geniuses to fix this, try using the JS-free version https://duckduckgo.com/html/.

Hope your problem gets resolved soon.

Technocreep by Thomas P. Keenan also mentions DDG in the chapter titled Anticreep. I read this a while ago but forgot to mention it.

This is convenient if you know a lyric from a song and are trying to find a title but not if you know the title and want the lyrics. It's goal should be to present an answer (instantly) instead of pointing you to a source that can.

The styling problem still stands. It just doesn't look right, you know what I mean?

The Lyrics IA has really too little information. It should have all the song when you expand it plus better formatting. If we have to go to MetroLyrics, we might as well not have the IA at all.

Here are some things you can do to protect your privacy online. I'm listing some of the easier things here:
- Use Firefox/Firefox based browsers; Chrome can't be trusted and Firefox is so awesome. Check out other versions of firefox, they all have different privacy features
- Use DuckDuckGo; Good for you, you've done it already
- Avoid using Facebook, Google or WebMail; Try to disconnect as many of your services. There's no need to use webmail if normal email will do. It's good if two of your services are not owned by the same company
- Change your cookie settings; Cookies are used to recognize a computer on the web from websites it's visited before. Since Google has advertising, analytics and JS libraries in much of the web and Facebook has their "Like" button, they can track a lot of the places you go. Disabling cookies can help with this as these services will no longer be able to put tracking cookies (like nametags at a party) on you and won't (necessarily) be able to recognize you later. Firefox makes this easy with settings like "Don't Accept Third Party Cookies" (meaning third-parties like Google-Analytics can't install cookies) or Exceptions to a full out cookie ban (so you could let DDG install cookies while no-one else could).
- Install Ghostery or similar; Ghostery is an add-on that block third-party trackers. You can then selectively allow the ones you want. Privacy Badger is a beta project donated to by DDG which blocks third-party websites that do not respect a Do Not Track notification.
- Install NoScript or similar; NoScript blocks Javascript on a page. You can then selectively allow the scripts you want by domain name.

If you want to go full all-out privacy, try some of the following:
- TOR; TOR is really awesome encryption between you and the server. The NSA has called them "the king of Internet privacy" and have spent significant resources trying to crack it.
- Use Linux or an OS you can trust; I personally use Ubuntu (cuz I'm not a complete geek). The best part is, Linux is free!

Or you could just avoid the Internet entirely. It's up to you.

a comment on the General Rambling DDG Needs More Holiday Logos 4 years and 1 month ago
Here are a list of holidays and dates in July. I'm hoping that DDG (or some of their community) could do a few of them:
- July 1 - Canada Day
- July 2 - World UFO Day
- July 4 - Independece Day
- July 10 - Nikola Tesla Day
- July 11 - World Population Day
- July 17 - World Day For International Justice
- July 18 - Mandela Day
- July 22 - Pi Approximation Day
- July 29 - International Tiger Day

Some ideas. July 2 could be a duck being abducted by a UFO. July 11 could be a duck surrounded by millions of other identical ducks. July 22 could be a duck using a slide rule, calculator and tape measure to find the circumfrence of the duck's containing circle.

a comment on the General Rambling Results Help Pages 4 years and 1 month ago
A couple things. https://duck.co/help/results/rankings is extremely short considering that it is likely to be a big subject for a lot of people browsing the help. Google has a large amount of pages talking about etiquete and how to rise in rankings through whitehat methods.

I also found while browsing the Help pages the reason for DDG not showing number of results. Would it be possible to show "# results loaded," a number that would increase as you scroll down and load more?

Finally, a question about punctuation. Wouldn't it be possible to convert a lone "(" in the search box into the phrase "left perentheses" for searching?
