Well, someone came to Duckco, and said the following: "Hello, what is DuckDuckGo, it randomly came on my computer one day, and I'd like to use Google. That might be evidence, but it also supports being culprits.

Ask (Formally Ask Jeeves) does have several browser hijacking twins, including MyWay, MyWebSearch, EverydayLookup powered by MyWay, and the questionable variation of http://www.ask.com/ called http://xn--serch-jha.ask.com/ (a censored to prevent getting the virus). To find out more about browser hijackers, visit the MalwareWiki.

Note: This isn't asking for a DuckDuckGo Browser. It is to discuss the topic so users can discuss what they would want from a DDG Browser. Thank You.

Hey there! Though on the "Please don't ask about a browser post" I said that I would try to make a browser that would just use DuckDuckGo as a default, I thought that there should be a DuckDuckGo Browser. Now, I would stay with the DuckDuckGo Format of having quite low clutter levels, and a modern feel adds to that no clutter feeling. There could also be an option for DuckDuckGo, Bing, Yahoo, and Yandex as the built in search engines to use as default. upon opening the browser there could be a Speed Dial with starters. And if you guys viewing this post have an idea, be sure to comment! I'd appreciate it. =)

Sorry! No concept images right now.

I've known about this for a while, but why is there this nonsense about a DuckDuckGo Hijacker? Especially considering the website takes the blaim!

Here are some links for people who don't know what I'm talking about: http://removevirusesfast.blogspot.in/201... , http://www.help-removevirus.com/duckduck... , and there is more. Could someone explain what it is, why it exists, and why it's not gone? Some people have even come here to Duck.co to ask about why they can't remove Hijacker from their browser. Can anyone from DuckDuckGo explain all the know about this supposive DuckDuckGo Browser Hijacker, or what I like to call, "DuckDuckGo's Evil Twin"? I would appreciate it if I could have someone explain what THEY know about it.
a comment on the General Rambling DuckDuckGo: Future & Competition 2 years and 3 months ago
Hello! I've been wondering about what the future of DuckDuckGo will be like, and what it's competition might be like. First things first, let's talk about the competition. DuckDuckGo has many competitors, such as Google, Startpage, and Qwant. Out of any "private" search engine, DuckDuckGo is the leading one, and Startpage isn't far behind it. Startpage has a calculator built in to it that is very similar to that of DuckDuckGo, and Startpage also has a small amount of options to make your Startpage Search look how you want it. In the future, Startpage could be just as advanced as DuckDuckGo. And you know Google, they're Google. Let's talk about the future now. DuckDuckGo in the future might look very similar to the larger search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. DuckDuckGo does have alot of revolutionary features that originate from DuckDuckGo, such as Instant Answers, and Bangs. I'm not really sure what to say next... soooooo, let's just end this here.

That means that you probably installed adware or freeware that had DuckDuckGo bundled in with it. DuckDuckGo does not normally have malicious behaviour, but malware that has DuckDuckGo bundled with it often uses it as a Browser Hijacker (See definition at https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Browser+Hijack... ). If you have a browser hijacker, you should try to get rid of it immediately, and it is recommended you use something such as Malwarebytes antivirus. Do you know if you've installed anything lately?

I am considering making a browser that provides great interface, nice modern look, and focuses on privacy. It won't be entirely focusing on being a "DuckDuckGo Browser" but will start with DuckDuckGo being your default search engine. It will also have an option to have a DuckDuckGo or Kinteil (my WIP search engine which currently runs on Google CSE) Toolbar ready to use in the browser. The built in choices will be DuckDuckGo, Startpage, Kinteil, and Yahoo. But, the point is that it will be a browser which supports private search engines. And also, I know this will be alot of work, but soon I must work hard to make it work. :)

I wish there was an Email service that was private, and didn't cost money.
