I've been using GMX for multiple years, and have never had a problem with it.

They support IMAP, and are very pro-security and pro-anonymity.

There are multiple services out there that instantly let you download the .flv (the actual video file YouTube and similar flash-based solutions use) when you enter a YouTube URL. DuckDuckGo could create a system like that as well. This file could then be forwarded to the user from a DuckDuckGo server.

In this case, the system would work on-demand, and thus not have such a big space usage, as video files will be removed from the server, X minutes after a request.

Instead of a 'secret youtube account', DuckDuckGo could go ahead and mirror commonly-watched youtube videos.
For people that do not know what 'mirroring' means: Basically, DDG will download the video to their servers, and then let people watch it through their (non-youtube, non-tracking) player at a later time.

The drawback to this approach is of course that it takes lots of space to save videos.

Another thing I would like, is if the Video results would not only consist of YouTube videos, but instead also use Vimeo, DailyMotion, Veoh, and possibly other sources. YouTube certainly is the biggest, but by no means the only or the best video sharing platform for each kind of search query.

This is the first time I've heard of Blinders. Could someone tell me where I can find more information about it?

I do not agree with the original poster that the image searching is this horrible.

In fact, I'm very happy that DuckDuckGo finally has got an image search function, and such a well-functioning one at that!

There's one thing of constructive criticism that I am able to give: Instead of the small 'click to expand' button in the upper right, I'd like to have a big expand button running along the whole width of the image search.
The current button is very small, and at the opposite side of the screen from where the 'images' button is. If I search for something, then click on 'images' button to see images, and then need to move back all the way over to the right to expand the image search, it gets tiresome.

The only other bit of criticism is that most of the times only +- 35 images seem to be returned. Is this because the image search is still very new and not much of the net has been crawled for images by DDG? I would love to see more. Is DDG crawling for images himself? Or how do you serve these images?

All right, those were my two cents.

In the normal DuckDuckGo, click on the 'More' button next to the search field, and then on Settings.

In DuckDuckGo Next, click on the menu button (three lines) in the top right of the window.
a comment on the General Rambling Have DuckDuckgo Next use current question query 4 years and 5 months ago
Hello there!

I am very happy with the recent unveiling of DuckDuckGo Next. It looks stunning, has great features and I'm very happy about the customizeability as well.

Anyway, I had a small question/feature request: The 'The next version of DuckDuckGo is coming, Check It Out' link that is displayed on the main DuckDuckGo search results page always sends users to the main page of DuckDuckGo Next.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to forward them to the results page using their current search query?

In any case, thanks for these amazing developments :).

This sounds like a great idea. However, the exact look of the stopwatch might be somewhat harder to agree on.

I might try to develop this if I have some time in the near future.
