It doesn't seems to work for me.
I've just tried to "uninstall" the OpenSearch "plugin", and then install it again. But it still doesn't work. I'm using Firefox 25.0.

I've made sure to check the "Use search suggestions" option. Here's some screenshots:

DuckDuckGo as Firefox detects it cf. the OpenSearch code:

The "Use search suggestions"-option is checked. (I'm using Firefox in Danish):

I've just checked Google, and that one works fine. So does Bing, eBay and Wikipedia.
For some reason Amazon.co.uk is not working either.

Thanks, Billy! Would it be okay with you, if we added it to the Help pages? I have to discuss this with the team first, as it uses an external service for the suggestions. But thank you for the tip, though!

Great! : ) If it is possible, could you make the e-mails (still) look okay, maybe awesome ( ; P ), even if images is not loaded.

It's just that I, personally, avoid loading images in e-mails, as that can be a way for bad guys, to verify, that ones e-mail-address is active, making them know, that you will probably read their e-mails.
Also, if valid DDG e-mails does not contain images at all, it would be easy to detect potentially faked ones, if they do contain images. : )

Just my 2 cents on security! : )
That's how say over there, right? : P

Nice idea! That would definitely be useful.
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling Do people feel more, "comfortable" on a name-branded search engine? 4 years and 8 months ago
It is definitely a "problem", when people think of "Googling" as a synonym with searching on the Internet in general. I literally once heard a guy told his friend to "Google it on Krak" (Krak is a Danish non-Google phone book-ish website, which is also offers maps.

It's the exact same "problem" when "skyping" becomes the same to video chatting. Oh, and when cola suddenly means Coca-Cola.

It is indeed a nice thing for the brands, in most cases.
I personally call this kind of unnecessary mentioning of brand names not being "brand neutral".

For example, it is *not* "brand neutral" to say:
"I'm happy with my iPhone, because I can check my e-mail on it.".
as opposed to
"I'm happy with my smartphone, because I can check my e-mail on it.".

Yes, there are some non-techies, that uses their computers out-of-the-box.
Some people don't know which browser they're using. Or what a browser even is.

It's a shame. I think you do to have to know some basic things in order to use a computer. No, I'm *not* saying that everybody should be able to tell how Perfect Forward Secrecy on a server works*. But, if you can't tell the difference from the speeder and the break of "your car", how would you then be able to drive it.

BTW, that's was a really nice metaphor. : D I'm going to save that one. : P

Sorry, for this looong comment! : )

*BTW, there's a very nice, detailed, yet easy-to-read explanation of PFS here.

Hi April,

We're going to "merge" the two forums.
This process is explained in details here:

a comment on the General Rambling You should do some (technical?) blog posts about how you do stuff at DDG! : D 4 years and 8 months ago
Hi guys,

A week ago I had an e-mail conversation with @zac.
I came up with the idea, that DDG should do some blog posts about how they do stuff at DDG.

Like how you configure their servers to not log peoples IP addresses or User agents. And how you prevent their feedback form from getting spammed, while at the same time not bothering people with CAPTCHAs.

I think it would be very useful to others. Especially if you're managing a website yourself and, you want to give your own visitors a similar level of privacy as DDG.

One thing, I would really appreciate, would be a explanation of how you set up Perfect Forward Secrecy on your website. That is because I want to have the same "feature" on my own website.

But hey, it could be anything! What do you guys think?
What would you like DDG to blog about?
