a comment on the General Rambling How can I get rid of this annoying translation wizard? 3 years and 3 months ago
Sorry, but this translation wizard is really annoying. If it is shows the first time I use the translation board it's okay, but it's shown every time if you click on one of the huge red buttons at the top ("Next untranslated token" or "Next untranslated token") and in some other cases too.

And if it is shown it displays you huge arrows where to click and has a big banner at the top too.
So in fact after using the translation board there a few times I know where to click so why does it appear again and again?

So how can I make him disappearing?
a reply to a comment on the Instant Answer Idea Add the possibility to translate instant answers 3 years and 3 months ago
Nice ideas. I would prefer the second method because I think it isn't that nice to have a bunch of files of only one instant answer there.
I think a kind of "generic" translation method like you described in b would be nicer IMHO.

BTW of course I would like to translate the instant answers in my language too - otherwise I wouldn't have requested this.

Why is the translation from Gerhard invalid?

BTW who or what decides if the translation is invalid?

It was said here.

Maybe I replied to a bit old comment, so here is it again:
On the help site about this it states "If you use our sort by date feature (for recent pages) there is a date displayed next to each domain.".
However this is not the case. In my case it displayed the results as it normally would only sorted differently.

What about this? There isn't displayed any date...

Yes, I also agree that "Such drauf los!" sounds much more better, but we should we translate it such loosely?
a comment on the General Rambling Issues with help 3 years and 4 months ago
There are a few issues with your help. (mostly links linking to not existing sites) I will list them here.

1.
Site: https://duck.co/help/desktop/hosts-file-... and https://duck.co/help/desktop/hosts-file-...
Part: "here"
Error: 404

2.
Site: https://duck.co/help/desktop/hosts-file
Part: You can find those here.
Error: 404

3.
Site: https://duck.co/help/desktop/search-from...
Part: "download this file and this file."
Issue: At least in Firefox with a singe click it just displays the text of the .reg files which can be a bit confusing. And even right clicking and choosing "Save as..." doesn't work here, because you use this redirection URL.

4.
Site: https://duck.co/help/desktop/other-brows...
Part: ("The following other browsers include DuckDuckGo as a search option.")
Notes: As Firefox now also includes DDG as a search option why don't list it there too?

Browser: Firefox 37.0.2
a comment on the General Rambling Favicons/Site icons aren't shown in basic theme 3 years and 4 months ago
Although I set the setting "Site Icons" to On DuckDuckGo doesn't display the favicon in the search results if I'm using the basic theme. With other themes this issue doesn't happen.
Interestingly it also resets the setting to "Off" if I'm looking at the settings later.

But much more confusing is that if you enable the WOT icons and the favicons then it's working correcty and displays them both.
So with basic theme enabled you should hopefully be able to reproduce it this way:
Enable site icons, disable WOT icons --> Save settings --> Search for something --> Favicons aren't displayed
[All steps before] --> Go to settings "Appearance" again --> The settings for Favicons is off

It happens similar with the option "Result URLs above snippet". If I disable it while using the basic theme it will be reset to the default which is "On" with the basic theme.

BTW another issue is that the "Save settings" button is behaving differently - sometimes it redirects you back to your last site - sometimes it doesn't and just bumps you to the top of the settings page.

And for your information here is a list of privacy-oriented email providers: https://duck.co/help/features/email

The short answer to this question is:
"will I nullify the privacy THE Duck provides ie will Google be able to track my movements?"
Yes. You're not more on DuckDuckGo after you "bang" yourself to GMail so Google can (and is going to) track you.

So you have to decide whether you want to change your email provider. - But this is of course fully unrelated to DuckDuckGo.
