no thanks, takes too long to load and it's not a place that people hang out anyway, just type in your search and go to the results page, don't need pictures for that
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling An Update on !bangs Syntax 3 years and 8 months ago
I don't get it, why is this even an issue? it's always been called !bangs the bangs page lists all of them as !bangname with no reference to doing it any other way. The reason for the change has been fully explained and it's reasonable and makes other searches more accurate. such a small change, not worth the complaints.

I like the default results layout and find it to be quite efficient. Further, I hate serif fonts and disable them whenever possible.

I may just be an end user, but I'm fully capable of adjusting the settings to my liking.

You honestly believe that? The NSA decide they want data from DDG so they approach them and they say "Sorry we don't have any"? So you're saying you suspect the NSA will go "Oh Ok.. let's try elsewhere so"? Hardly. They will force them to collect it, put a gagging order and fine them if they don't comply.
that is some interesting speculation but only speculation

by the way where in any of the ddg help or information files do you find information saying that they will safeguard you from the nsa? i have read through quite a bit and the information says that they do not track you and do not share your personal information like other search engines do but they are clearly talking about not letting your search information into the hand of other corporations for the purpose of tracking you for profit

As long as DDG is incorporated in the USA or has servers in the USA you may as well use Google - it's a false sense of security/privacy/anything else
have fun with that
you are clearly making a case based on conjecture and speculation
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling 100% Open Source DuckDuckGo 3 years and 9 months ago
noooooooooo! the instant answers are open source. i doubt that the search api's that are used can be used in an open source environment due to licensing requirements.
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling Update DuckDuckGo Logo 3 years and 10 months ago
I mention and use it in professional situation all of the time. The reaction that I typically get is one of curiosity, followed by acceptance. People (including professionals) are accustomed to "off beat" appearances in web sites. My vote is for the duck to remain.

By the way, if duckduckgo's head was in the sand, their logo would be an ostrich, which it isn't.
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling How get I get a job at DuckDuckGo? 3 years and 10 months ago
employers like job candidates that proof their correspondences before submitting them

in addition employers prefer job candidates that do their own research

what are you talking about

why do you think that ddg has joined forces with apple

oh yeh, corporate greed-haha - this is the only search engine that lets you completely disable ads and you bitch about corporate greed

the best part of your post is that you will no longer return
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling Internet Service Provider privacy? 3 years and 11 months ago
what doesn't make sense is your comment

ddg isn't a proxy server and has no connection to google

Google has no control whatsoever over ddg and hopefully it will always be that way
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling Just how private is the search ? ? ? ? 3 years and 11 months ago
you'll notice that this section of the forums is called [bold]general ramblings[/bold] - no offense intended

do you have examples of what you think is censoring by ddg or is the proprietary information that you are paid to gather and keep confidential? in my experience if a perceived deficiency is reported here its investigated and by ddg programmers

unfortunately I am not as verbose as others so I have again limited the scope of my engagement - I apologize that I am not on the same intellectual or technical scale as you - congratulations for your notable achievements. now I am off to see the rodeo - a first for me.
