This is not an idea -- please use the general section.

Advertising @ Help explains how to advertise on DDG.
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling Account to store settings in 3 years and 8 months ago
There's always been a sort of long-term plan to save settings to your account here on the community platform, but it doesn't seem that relevant. Why do you want this? Cloud save lets you share settings between browsers/devices, and an account would not help if you clear cookies. I don't see the benefit.
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling DDG eating features in GMail? anyone else having this problem? 3 years and 8 months ago
DDG is not a browser, it is a search engine -- that article is not talking about search engines. Search engines are just websites, they cannot make any difference with the other websites (i.e. gmail) you use. That is also definitely not the HTML version of gmail you're seeing -- it's not crazy broken like you've experienced, just less blingy.

I will say, it's quite strange that the issue only occurs when you use DDG, but I also don't fully understand what you mean there. When you go to GMail, what web browser (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.) do you use? Are you switching to Google Chrome when you say "tried opening my GMail with Google itself," or are you searching for "gmail" on Google rather than on DDG?

In the former case, what web browser are you switching from?
In the latter case, does it work when you click a direct link such as this: https://mail.google.com ?
I don't actually see how the latter case could happen, but interested to investigate this further.

Not sure exactly what that instant answer is doing, but I can answer the bigger question.
Your IP is never used to geolocate/personalize regular results. Never. You can manually change your location in the settings for those.

Instant answers (that gray box at the top of results) do sometimes use your IP, e.g. weather. GeoIP is always done on DDG servers with a local database, so nobody else gets your IP--just your approximate location, in those few cases.

Wolfram|Alpha should answer that (through DDG), but that would be an easy enough goodie to make.
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling d.gg 3 years and 8 months ago
Single letter domains are pretty ridiculously expensive, in the thousands to tens of thousands. ddg.gg is just two keys (you don't have to move your fingers), so I don't see it as a benefit worth thousands of dollars. That one doesn't seem to be available, in any case.

Oh, not sure how I missed this, sorry!

Quote from gregsen:
I have tried to return more than one value in remainder, but that just substitute $1 with both values (seperated with / ).

Not sure how that would happen. Looking at the current code on github, it looks just about right.
The syntax error you have is `${ENV{...}}` on line 28. It should be $ENV{...}. %ENV is just a Perl hash which is auto-filled from the environment.
{{ENV{...}}} is not a Perl syntax at all, that is just a sort of rudimentary template language we use in spice. You won't find that anywhere else.
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling Android App Images Shown for Stories 3 years and 8 months ago
That is a DDG service. Inappropriate stories are usually filtered out automatically -- can you give an example of such a story which did show up?

Noted on a report button. That might not be a bad idea.

Do you have specific examples (query, and what you expect to see)? You are somewhat correct in that none of us live in AU, none of us are likely to search for things in AU. That means, to an extent, we depend on users like yourself to make detailed reports so it can be improved.
