a comment on the General Rambling Useragent of Lernid not properly recognised 7 years and 12 days ago
I've been playing with lernid, the new ubuntu-classroom application. It has a built-in webkit web browser, so I thought i'd try going to duckduckgo. Everything works fine, except it thinks I am using safari
This is the useragent according to the ddg useragent goodie:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/534.26+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0 Safari/534.26+

In the next few weeks i'll make an Ubuntu Unity lens to use the DDG API and put it up on launchpad.

Midori is one of the 'larger small browsers', and it recently made duckduckgo the default!

Sorry, Not yet.
Although it is an interesting idea, i'm not sure exactly how it would work, because duckduckgo does not have a bot that could be used for local indexing at this point.
A privacy-conscious local search engine would be extremely handy though, and a nice alternative to google desktop.
There are some interesting local search engines available, so i'll get back when I remember some names
EDIT: I believe I misunderstood the OP; I thought they were referring to a local file search

Another possible mail service to look into is mail4us.net
Small-ish storage limit, but that's not a problem for me at least. (and you can always back up emails locally)
It does use roundcube for webmail too

I'm getting a similar issue, but only for multi-word queries.
It doesn't even go to the regular search page, it just goes to the homepage!
