The data is stored in memory just long enough for it to be used. Note that it's already ridiculously difficult and unlikely to recover something from RAM after it's been wiped, but then it's overwritten an instant later by the next request. And then another. And another.
There is no reasonable way anyone could extract data at that point.

Erm, that sounds quite bad...
What OS is this? Have you tried starting firefox in safe mode (Firefox button > Help > Restart with addons disabled)? Cleared the cache?

(Trying to be OS-agnostic): Open a terminal or command prompt, if you can, and run `ping duckduckgo.com` in windows, or `ping -c 1 duckduckgo.com` in OSX/Linux/etc. There should be a line like this:
Code:
PING duckduckgo.com (107.21.1.61) 56(84) bytes of data.

What is the IP address (four numbers separated by periods)?
a comment on the Instant Answer Idea PLACE A REAL TIME CLOCK WITH SECONDS IN DUCKDUCKGO PAGE. 4 years and 6 months ago
Not an instant answer idea, please use the general section.
Why not look at the clock in the bottom right corner of your screen? I'm not sure what you hope to gain here.

DuckDuckGo doesn't ever retrieve those results, so (if I understand the question correctly) that is not possible.
You can add the no_redirect=1 parameter to get the URL it would redirect to in a "Redirect" field: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%21ddg+duckduc...
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling Tor Exit Enclave 4 years and 6 months ago
Where do you see something which is not English by default? The tor hidden service is English, and the exit node doesn't affect anything like that, so I'm not sure what you mean.
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling Class Project: Google and the Academy 4 years and 6 months ago
1. I tried DuckDuckGo a few years ago, just checking out the options. I had (and honestly, have) no big privacy qualms, I was just curious what else was out there. DuckDuckGo was the only thing I found other than Google and Yahoo which actually gave decent results for its own name. The instant answer for that query intrigued me, and I was soon hooked by the responsive feedback, which at the time was a direct email to Gabriel.

2. I started getting annoyed with Google after one of their first major interface changes. They started changing little things every week or so, and it drove me a bit mad. Then things started moving around all by themselves, that was it. Its position? It is (in my opinion) a monopoly. Monopolies are never good for consumers, and I don't think this is an exception. It is definitely worrying.

3. It gives me information quickly when I already know what I want (i.e. documentation for a particular function, a stackoverflow post solving an issue, etc.). I almost always know what I want, so that works for me.

4. Not to the extent of requiring a gmail account, but to the extent that people get rather confused when I don't use gmail.

Sounds like a neat project, I'd love to see what you come up with!
a comment on the Instant Answer Idea IMDB ratings for films in 0-click box 4 years and 6 months ago
Whoops, a single missing quote broke our existing IMDB plugin.
Fixed--you should see this working for queries like "imdb Avengers" as soon as we push that live.

Still not very clear.
What makes you think it is connecting to thesaurus.com? What are your search queries?

Please use the general forum in the future, this is not an instant answer idea.

I have no idea what you mean. Can you elaborate?
