Iron is essentially Chromium with a selection of the features added by Chrome. A DDG browser would go out of its way to avoid giving websites revealing information rather than acting passively.

I agree. I think it would probably be best if we asked the creators of these add-ons for (some of) their code, or at least tips on how to integrate similar features into a browser if they have any. Starting from scratch is almost never a good idea and could result in a big mess down the road.

If privacy is a concern, it's probably best to optimize around Panopticlick. The best solution is probably either not returning a user agent string (and other HTML headers) or returning the most common one (the answer to which is not yet clear). That's the bread and butter of privacy: not being unique. Same as in the real world, actually. Chrome extensions like ModHeader and ScriptSafe are some good examples. Since it may end up being a good idea to hook into the Chrome Web Store since it (next to Firefox) has one of the most extensive lists of extensions (pun intended), perhaps it would be a good idea to base the browser on the Blink engine (or Chromium itself) in addition, since it already has the best score so far at HTML5test.
