DDG actually has 3 ways of storing\accessing user settings:

  • As you noted, via non-tracking cookies, stored on the user's workstation.
  • Anonymous Cloud Save which stores your settings in a more permanent way (on a remote server in the cloud). No personally identifiable information will be stored in the cloud, and your pass phrase will never leave your browser.
  • Bookmarklet URLs, for example:
https://duckduckgo.com/?k7=d0cdcd In Advanced Settings, select your preferred settings then click on Show Bookmarklet and Settings Data then copy the URL provided.

Hopefully you'll find one of these existing solutions will fit your needs.

I did this search: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=polish+languag... (without first referencing your search criteria) and the first result is in the 3rd position.

The best method for reporting non-optimal reports is to use the [https://i.snag.gy/5rLFJ.jpg] button. These reports go to the developers who look for trends that can help improve searches for all users.

Thanks

You should be able to use the Restore Default Search Engines button to restore all default search engines.

Short of that, you may need to create a new user profile to get the default search engines, but this will certainly come with it's own set of pains.

Since this is more of a FF environment issue than specific to DDG, you may want to also ask about this on the FF forums or subReddit.

Thanks for giving DDG a try again. If you're using Firefox with Windows or Mac, just go into Firefox Settings\Options then select Search. From the dropdown field, select DuckDuckGo as the Default Search Engine then close the Settings screen. Your searches will now default to DDG.

Thanks!

I'll ask the developers about adding image file extensions to the filetype: trigger.

Thanks!

So, the Chrome instructions said to use %s and I got the ?q= by doing a sample DDG search. Blended the 2 and it works!

Have you tried using the Filter By Region tool [https://i.snag.gy/Y4x8cp.jpg] or selecting and saving your region in Advanced Settings? Hopefully that will improve your results.

Thanks

Just tested using your environment and it worked as expected. Use the following search parameters: [https://i.snag.gy/UXjTDz.jpg] and it should work just fine for you.
